God answers prayers

We give Praise to God for answering our prayers

Every day, as We face a new day, do we see our prayers answered? We may or may not recognize it, but the truth is God answers prayers!

Until now you have not asked for anything in my name. Ask and you will receive, and your joy will be complete. John 16:24

What a wonderful experience to see God replying to our request. Isn’t it amazing to know God is actively involved in our life? We can communicate with Him, and He communicates with us.

Asking God

God has promised us, which gives so much assurance to us that He will answer. In our verse, Jesus Christ is making that statement to ask in “His name”, and that reassures us even more in His opening statement, “Until now you have not asked anything”. Let’s pause and think of these words.

For what purpose is He making this promise?

That our joy may be complete! We heard it right from the very mouth of our Lord Jesus Christ, giving us the full assurance that He cares about the Joy in our hearts and the willingness to answer every request we made to Him if only we could ask.
Thank God for His love and care, we have access to everything we need, even those impossible things.

Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you: For everyone that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh findeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened. Matthew 7:7 -8

There are 3 things God wants us to do according to these verses, ask, seek, and knock.

1. Ask and it shall be given to you

How many times do we need to ask? Yes, every time we need to, we can always bring that request to God and He will answer. What a wonderful assurance. That’s really amazing, He is a father to us. As a child, we always depend on Him.
Most people don’t get an answer because they don't ask. We may say He is an all-knowing God, it’s true, but as our Father, He longs for us as well. It is not about Him knowing it, but it's about our relationship with Him. We talk to Him and part of our prayer are those petitions we would like for Him to bless and give.
As often as we can, we put all things under His love and care.

2. Seek and you shall find

The second one is seeking. What do we need to seek? Isn’t it that there are things we don’t know? His character, our life’s purpose, and so much more to ask. In living as His child, we ought to trust and obey Him. How can we do that? By constantly seeking Him in our prayers and in His word. God talks to us as we talk to Him in prayer. It is a two-way communication that we continually do every step of our journey as Christians.
It would be best to constantly read His word and intentionally seek answers to our questions. That our hearts may be satisfied with who He is in our life. That will surely bring joy as God unfolds everything each day that we can never miss to praise and worship Him.
Seeking is also taking some time alone with God. He will definitely reveal Himself to us day by day and from Glory to glory.

 3. Knock and the door will be opened

Knocking is one of the best ways to tell that you are outside and need attention. The door will surely open. All of these three are active participation in seeking something we need. All are given the assurance of a positive response.

But why are their prayers unanswered?

What must be the reason why God seems so silent in some of our prayer requests? When in our previous lessons, He promised everything? God’s answer can be yes, no, or wait. There are immediate requests that are answered immediately and there are those that have directly been answered, and the reply is no, why does that happen? There are factors why, just like a father to a son, the father will not give something that can harm his son. We may lose control of our lives, and we focus on the gift rather than the giver. The best we can do is to pray according to His will. Are those that we pray for will give glory to His name?, is it beneficial to our service to Him? As God can part the Red Sea, He can give the most impossible if our needs are at stake and life is in danger. We are at the edge of a situation where we cannot move on or go back, just as the Israelites do, but those with a “no” answer are surely the most who do not comply with the will of God. Or, before we forget, God's answer may not be at the time yet, His timing is perfect. It will surely come if we can wait, that’s part of the test of our faith. As a child of God, you can distinguish which answer is no and yes or wait. If it is a “no” answer, don’t complain and change your attitude towards serving God. Later, you will brightly why.

As we go through those issues in life and see how God answers and how He had promised,

How do these verses affect you, your faith, and your prayer life?

Do you find prayer to become routine? Or do you enjoy each moment talking to God?

In our next blog, we will be exploring more of these areas of our prayer life.

Hope you enjoyed reading, and I pray that God has spoken to your hearts and that your prayers will become meaningful as you come to Him in prayer each day.

Why not share some of your experiences of an answered prayer in our comment box. I would love to hear more stories of God answering our prayers.

God bless
