Redeeming the time
What time is it? Redeem The Time?
Regardless of what time it is, there are still a lot of things to do. You have been busy all day, but something is not right. Yup, you want to move, but you can’t. More so you can’t move back. What was lost, you can never turn back the time.
What does Redeeming the time mean?
“Redeem” means to get back. I thought you could never get back what was lost? Yes, it is, what it says is the time that is in you and the time onwards, make as much as you can because what you have lost are those you cannot count on especially when it comes to what the Lord wants you to do.
Imagine those days when you don’t know Him. What kind of life did you live? Did it ever occur to you that day that you have thought of Him? Maybe yes or mostly not.
Are those days good?
How I wish we could turn back the time and make the most out of it. Anything done without the Lord is considered “days of evil”. As it is written, “no one is righteous, no not one…” Romans 3:10. What we are those days are alienated from God. We may be good but that is not what our hearts intended, we do good hoping God will understand that is why we keep trying. But looking at God’s perspective, the way He sees us is not what we think it would be.
Our hearts “fall short” of God’s standard. No matter how hard we try. But thank God for His Love and Grace for all of us, He provided the way to solve that problem.
The Sin problem is solved!
We are created in His likeness and in His image, as created beings, were made perfect until the “fall of man”, that creation became so blurred that it cannot reflect God’s image anymore. Therefore He has to go down to reflect our image through Jesus Christ. When He died, He died for all. That made our image clear again so that in His Son, we can reflect back to what was lost.
Understanding that mystery means God opened your eyes and heart. You knew the value of what was lost therefore going onwards, you want to redeem the time! Make the most out of it moving forward.
Be ye not unwise
Will you be happy doing the same old habits? Are you enjoying the things our Lord died for? After placing your trust in Him, you will loose your appetite for committing sin anymore. God settled that on the cross and “imputed” in your heart His righteousness. That heart that was “sinner” now becomes “right” with God. That’s what imputation means, the righteousness of God in place of your sinfulness. God’s righteousness, the clear image of who He is imputed in our hearts so that we became “New” 2 Corinthians 5:17.
Living otherwise now is living unwisely. Paul tells us not to be “unwise”. Not to enjoy the things we did in the past. We may indeed fall once in a while, but the more you draw closer to God, the more you seek to live right with Him. Being wise is to live the kind of life God wants us to, this then leads us to knowing “The will of God in our life”
How do we understand the Will of the Lord?
The will of God is revealed to us, and our hearts and eyes open long for that kind of life. As it is capable of doing that, our life’s action will go towards that. Our life’s training will be to gain strength as we continually exercise our faith-driven life. We no longer try to do things to be good but live in harmony with God’s will. The more we grow, the more we understand the complete “oracle” of God! Oracle means “a divine communication or revelation”, “a person who delivers authoritative, wise, or highly regarded and influential pronouncement”. The mystery of God is revealed in our hearts so that we are now capable of doing the will of God.
What does this text suggest?
As we explored what it says and what it means, our day-to-day living practically is “Redeeming the time”. I don’t know how God had spoken to your hearts, but as I write this, I thought of making a wise decision to live our life by the Will of God. We no longer enjoy doing “evil” ways but do wise steps every day.
If you are a new believer, just keep moving forward. Read the Bible prayerfully and spend time meditating on His Words. For sure you will need help from a mature believer so get involved with another believer. Take time to learn the bible with them in the most practical way. Learn from the experience of those ahead of you, you will surely grow and look after the “new” and “young” believers as well as you grow. Live a life of grace as God does to us, no more condemnation, Romans 8:1, but live in unity with one another. Forgive, and ask for forgiveness. We have less time to spend before going into eternity with our God and creator.
If you have been blessed by these words, why not share your thoughts in the comment section. You might not know, but there are discouraged and lonely people reading this, and you can be a blessing to them. Reach out, share, pray, and be a blessing.
God bless everyone!
