Be strong in the Lord, and in the power of His Might
God’s command with an assurance
Paul tells us to “Be strong in the Lord” addressed to all those who have experienced all kinds of trials and testing of their faith. Not only that but also to depend our strength in “the power of His might”
This tells us that our inner strength is coming from the Lord.
Let’s explore what this means and how can we apply this in our life
There’a a lot of areas in our lives that needs strengthening. The more we go closer and grow in the knowledge of God, the more we feel the pressure of dependencies. Why is it so?
In terms of Leadership
Sooner or later you will grow. As you grow, your responsibility grows as well. And that can be a call to Christian Leadership. All of us will have it’s place in leadership. As Paul says: “some are called to be apostles, pastors and teachers…”
As that responsibility grows, there are more pressures that will test the kind of leadership you possess. There are a lot of circumstances that your leadership will be put to the test. One is your integrity and the other is your effectivity.
Maintaining our Integririty
Integrity to keep God’s precepts and maintaining your godly principles. You need God in all aspect and this is where our scripture is applicable. When you are in a middle of a situation where you will be caught in between choices of doing what is right even if it will affect your reputation or relying on your own and keeping secrets to maintain your status.
Effectivity in Leadership
The other is your effectivity. Manipulating people to follow you or leading them with grace. Sometimes you want to get things done but in a harsh manner or letting others dictate your leadership styles. It’s a balancing act where you go with God’s principle of servant-leadership.
There are so many different kinds of leadership styles, no one is identical but there are good examples to follow on Christian leadership. Wether the type of an example set by King David in leading the army of warriors and a Kingdom for the people or the kind of leadership of Jesus Christ to His apostles, disciples and followers in Hos earthly ministries.
We need God, to give us that strength to lead.
In terms of Personal discipline
Maturing believer is organized in all aspects of his time, money, testimonies and talents. These areas needs more “training in “righteousness” aspect of our daily living. It should be a guide rather than a law to follow. And that requires a lot of exercises to build a godly character.
The strength to move upward is where God’s strength is needed. In 1Corinthians 9:26, Paul says, “I do not run aimlessly…” we should walk each day with a purpose.
That can be done with our own personal discipline of spending time reading and meditating God’s word for spiritual guidance. There are a lot of principles God has recorded in His word for us to grasp and learn to live a disciplined and godly life.
In terms of our Relationship to God, family, relatives and friends
The balance of serving the unseen God with the way we treat and deal with people. This I believe needs the strength from God. Its not enough that we go to church religiously but we need to manifest this in our daily dealing with people we know and don’t know.
Be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might
we cannot do this unless we rely on the stregth He provides. The anchor of our faith that has the solid foundation is in God through our Lord Jesus Christ.
Are you getting tired?
Whatever stage you are in, we need to strengthen our grip to God. Commit all aspects of our life to Him, He will surely bring everything into completion, grow in His love and grace. The more we need Him to finish our race. His grace is made perfect in our weaknesses.
So what you need to do?
Be strong in the Lord, surrender every weights of sin and run the race with His grace that will sustain us till the end.
How to strengthen Our Faith in God?
Here are some points to apply in our practical living;
- We need to be strong in the areas where our integrity is at stake. We bring the testimony of God, we are not perfect but we are transformed by God each day, that’s part of the process.
- We need to be strong in our personal struggle over sin. These are our sinful nature’s bondage where are are already been set free. Yes we are still sinful but God enabled our hearts to overcome all of these. Instead of dwelling in sin, get away with it and train yourself to stay away from doing sin.
- We need to be strong in the areas where we easily get discouraged. Grace is all you need. Confess if you sin and be humble to follow God.
- We need to be strong in building our family. Yes, our family in the faith. Never give up of meeting together with God’s people. Learn from them and serve God by sharing the gospel.
God bless you!
