Write your Daily Devotion

Majority of the pages are spaces for you to write your daily bible verse reading and meditating.
A brief note for writing how God had spoken to you with the verse you have read. The space below is a section to write the practical application. It may be
  • a command to obey,
  • promise to claim,
  • example to follow,
  • sin to forsake, and
  • most importantly Knowledge about God in that particular verse. You have even more space to write a prayer list or memory verse for the day.
All of these activities will help you develop a habit each day. Spend time at least 10 to 15 minutes each and take time to write. Maybe some of you are not good in writing, this will also help you develop that skill. If you are interested to know more about developing your writing skill you can go to my instructional post about writing an article.
Completing this in one year will produce a manuscript of yearly devotional guide.
You can go over it and use this to publish your own Daily Devotional Guide. Join us in this project to complete your daily devotional guide with our daily bible reading plan to help you systematize your daily devotions with the daily bible readings and use it for your daily devotion. Here’s some practical points to guide you with how to record what you will learn from the Word of God.

Have the bible with you and develop a system to organize how you will manage to read a bible verse for your devotion. You can use a daily devotional guide or from the bible itself.

  1. You can go by book in the bible
  2. Read by chapter and pinpoint the key verses from your reading and meditate on it.
  3. Write what you have learned from the story yiu read and write the key verses that strike you most in your daily devotional planner.
  4. This will lead you to write a short and practical application, from the last section of the page provided for writing, as to how the verse spoke to you. Make it more specific to your own experience. Ask yourself some of the key questions;
         -  What does the bible tells about the particular
lessons you learned, example in the areas of
             forgiveness?
          - What will you do if you are offended?
         - What will you do if you offend someone?
         - why is it hard to forgive? Or why is it hard to
           ask for forgiveness?
         - What areas in your life that needs to change so
that you it would be easy for you follow what
God had taught from what you read?
         - What else are you struggling with?
        - is there any particular person you want to pray
for or reach out to ask for forgiveness or needs
          reconciliation?
      - How will you do it to improve your service your
        relationship with God?

These are just a way of exploring what particular question you might be asking in relation to the verse you read.

Allow God to speak in your heart and He will reveal to you what specific areas you can apply the truth you have learned.

Applying the truth

The application is the best guide to our Christian living This will develop a habit of becoming obedient child of God as He reveals the truth. As you do this everyday, you will find amazing joy and fulfillment of being alone with God and His Words. Developing a constant fellowship with God, you will realize how God is actively involve with your life. He cares for you and His will is revealed each day from His word. Spending time with His word will let you know His heart.
This is also an opportunity to talk to Him in your prayer, a two-way communication with our almighty creator who listens and answer our prayers.

Reading the bible without applying the truth is what James has told us in Chapter 1 verses 22-24 as

But be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves.
For if any be a hearer of the word, and not a doer, he is like unto a man beholding his natural face in a glass:
For he beholdeth himself, and goeth his way, and straightway forgetteth what manner of man he was.
But whoso looketh into the perfect law of liberty, and continueth therein, he being not a forgetful hearer, but a doer of the work, this man shall be blessed in his deed.

let us be doers and not just hearers. The application is what prepares our heart to be doers. It may be difficult at first but with our constant  prayer, reading and writing, the words will be embedded in our hearts that God with His Spirit enables us to obey Him.

Start your day with God’s word in our hearts

As you start your day you are more equipped and prepared for the day’s battle. You got covered by God’s mighty power and able to resist all of the devil’s scheme to put you down. With God’s word, you will have a joy unspeakable that you alone can understand and your brothers and sisters in Christ doing the same thing.

End the day with prayer and reflection

As you end the day, before sleeping, you can go back to your devotional planner and reflect if you were able to apply the truth you have learned. Pray and praise God for that day and sleep well for another day will begin.

Conclusion

The Daily devotional planner is a very useful tool in developing our devotions to God. Writing it will give us even more clearer view of how we can apply the truth we have learned. Write to set up your daily goals based on God’s word and end it by reviewing what transcribed during the day. If you missed out something, it’s ok, maybe that particular application needs more time to prepare. You can add that to your list of task to be done or to be improved. This will serve as a guide not as a law to strictly follow. It is God’s grace that will help you apply the truth as you grow.

Develop a habit and this will turn into a character building and a life changing journey to an obedient Christian in Action!
